FUE Hair Transplant

The minimalistic invasive Hair Transplant technique

Every individual desires to look and feel good and young forever. Amongst the physical attributes that contribute majorly to our looks, hair tops the chart. But when hair loss plays havoc with your life what do you do? It is obvious that you start losing confidence. However post diagnosis, if a hair transplant is recommended, you would have every chance of getting back your turf of pride. Hair transplantation is a minimalistic invasive procedure. Its foundation lies in harvesting and implanting of the hair follicles from the donor area and onto the recipient areas. One of the most favored techniques is the Follicle Unit Extraction (FUE) also referred to as FT. The hair loss pattern that is treated by hair transplant is called the Male pattern baldness.

What is Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE)?

This method involves extraction of naturally occurring follicular units from the donor area and implanting the same into the areas that need the transplant. Men as compared to women have always shown better results for hair transplantation. This is due to the genetic built of hair in men and its receptiveness to a hormone called DHT that causes hair loss. There two steady donor areas in men : the back of the head and the side burns. Women do not have steady donor sites.

Donor hair follicles in laymen's words are connective tissues that are found around the root of hair. For any kind of successful hair transplant, perfect extraction of these follicles is extremely important. The process of FUE hair transplant starts off with the doctors outlining the area that needs to be covered by the transplant. The hair is then shaved off. The donor area is numbed for the procedure to begin. At this point of time a very tiny needle, attached to a drill is used to extract as many follicles as would be required. This process is also referred to as harvesting. Once done, these follicles are carefully transported to the team responsible for cleaning and getting the follicles ready for the transplant. The process of hair transplant starts with the doctor either making small holes with the drill or tiny incisions on the area where the hair would be transplanted. Once done, the doctor and his team quickly and efficiently start inserting the follicles onto the recipient site or the part of the head where the transplant is needed. The process on the whole would take around a minimum of 4 hours, which will extend to around 8 hours depending on the kind of transplanted hair density one is opting for.
